House Phones to Cell Phones and the American Family

Today, cell phones are extremely pervasive. We do something as simple as walk into a gas station and probably come in contact with at least one person talking away on their cell phone. The next time you’re in a mall, just look around and see how many people are on their phones and talking as if no one is around. (If you’re lucky, you might just run into someone who seems to be talking to the wind…not to worry, they just have the nifty ear piece that allows them to be totally hands-free.)

Statistics on telephone and cell phone subscribers

As of December 2004 according to ACA International, there were 178 million landlines and they have been declining ever since. There were 219 million U.S. wireless subscribers as of September 2006 according to ACA International.
